NHKBA member Finnair would like to share the following information with you.

Finnair is confident that air travel will gradually start to recover as travel restrictions are being lifted. Today they are operating approximately 5 % of their normal network. However, from the 1st of July Finnair will start adding destinations and frequencies into its network, including the key destinations in Asia and expect to fly 30 % of its normal traffic plan in July. They will then keep adding more destinations and frequencies going forward.

You can find all the latest information on the travel updates page on Finnair.com

  • routes starting in July: SHA, HKG, SIN, SEL, NRT,  and BKK
  • adding in August: PEK*, OSA, NGO, JFK and DEL

(*subject to government approval)

  • adding in November/December: HND, HKT, KBV and MIA

Services from Helsinki to Amsterdam and Brussels were reduced from April, but flights from both cities to the Finnish capital will now ramp up in July.

  • Amsterdam will see 12 weekly services to Helsinki in July, moving to double daily in August.
  • Finnair will operate 5 weekly services from Brussels to Helsinki, moving to 9 in August and double daily in September

Finnair schedule in the 'your booking' tool

From the end of June the Finnair flights that are in the 'your booking' tool will be a true reflection of what the airline will be flying. in other words: the system will be ‘clean’. Finnair flights can reliably be booked with the trust that these will operate.

There will also be destinations to where Finnair will not fly until 2021.

Finnair reserves the right for changes to its plans as the exceptional situation develops and borders open and may also close with little notice due to any second wave of Coronavirus.

Book with confidence

Finnair wants its travelers to “Book with confidence” therefore all tickets issued between 1st of April and 31st  of August automatically have a flexible change rule so that as close as seven days before departure, the ticket can still be changed without any change fee (until 31st of May 2021). If changes are needed and there is no availability in the original fare class booked for the new flight, the difference between the original and the new flight will need to be paid.

Measures at Helsinki Airport and onboard our flights

Finnair is  preparing for the gradually growing passenger numbers with several new measures to make travelling as safe as possible. During May, they will adopt new procedures onboard and at the airport to ensure that their customers and employees can get on board our flight with confidence and to ensure they are well protected from the possible contamination at the airport and onboard;

  • Customers are required to wear a face mask onboard our flights
  • Finnair’s customer service staff will wear a surgical mask at Helsinki airport (at least until 31st of August)
  • Cabin crew will wear surgical masks onboard our aircraft (at least until 31st of August)
  • Plastic shields will be installed in different service points at Helsinki airport.

Please note that Finnair customers are expected to bring their own masks and boarding can be denied without a mask. Aircraft cleaning has further been intensified, with a special focus on high-touch areas.

Already in March Finnair adopted several measures to ensure customer and personnel well being such as changes in service procedures, a no-touch policy, social distancing principles applied in seating, additional cleaning measures and protective gear for its crew. You can read more about health and safety during travel on the Finnair website.
