Seminar: The Greater Bay Initiative

A rival to Silicon Valley and Wall Street?

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area or GBA) comprises the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and the nine municipalities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province. The total area is 56,000 km2 and the total population was around 70 million by late 2017.

During the free seminar on July 2nd, expert speakers from China, Hong Kong and Europe will focus on the creation of the GBA as well as on the opportunities for Dutch companies in this area.

Mr. Jan Knikker (tbc)

Jan Knikker is a Partner at the famous company MVRDV. MVRDV was founded in 1993. Based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, they  provide solutions to contemporary architectural and urban issues in all regions of the world.

MVRDV has been active in China for many years. Their projects include the famous Tianjin Binhai Library.  In Shenzhen, MVRDV  is presently working on the Vanke 3D City.

Speakers During Dinner

Ms. Teresa Cheng SC

Secretary for Justice for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Ms. Teresa Cheung was a Senior Counsel in private practice before joining the Government. She is also a chartered engineer and chartered arbitrator. She was frequently engaged as arbitrator or counsel in complex international commercial or investment disputes. Ms. Cheng was one of the founders and Chairman of the Asian Academy of International Law. She is a Past Vice President of the International Council of Commercial Arbitration, Past Vice President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and Past Chairperson of Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. In 2008, she became the first Asian woman elected through a global election as President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

 

 

Mr. Lucas de Man

Creator, presenter, TV Host and Artistic Director. Lucas will perform part of his show ‘Meet the Millennials’.
